How to use the text message template
- 01Name the people in People; add someone else for a group chat.
- 02Click a bubble to rewrite it, or add messages from either side.
- 03End on a typing bubble for a cliffhanger, or add time dividers between scenes.
- 04Download the PNG at 2× or 3× for print, slides or video.
Classroom activities
Have students retell a chapter as texts between two characters, compare casual and formal writing, or practice everyday phrases in a language class. Print one per group or put it up on the board.
Writing prompts and storyboards
Open a story with a conversation that stops at the worst moment, like the preset, and ask what happens next. Writers and directors storyboard the texts a character sends before the scene is shot.
Props for film and video
Made-up names and no phone numbers, so there's nothing to clear or blur. Export at 3× and track it onto the phone screen, or cut to it full-frame.

Questions
Why are the bubbles green?
The preset is a plain SMS text, which an iPhone shows in green. Turn off “Green bubbles (SMS)” in the iMessage settings for blue.
Can it look like an Android phone?
Yes. Pick Google Messages above the preview and the conversation carries over; WhatsApp, Messenger and the other apps are there too.
Is it free for classroom use?
Yes. No sign-up, no watermark and nothing to install on school devices.
